hi there, im really new to all this so bear with me if i sound stupid....i recently purchased a sony handycam DVD camcorder....it uses the 8cm DVD discs....the camera is fine and you can take the discs straight out of the camcorder and play them on my DVD player...

the problem i am having is when i put the discs onto my laptop...the camcorder came with nero...i want to take the DVD's from the camcorder...edit a a few bits out and then put them on a regular sized DVD to keep....

so i first of all installed the nero program i got free with the camcorder....it all works fine...but when you watch the DVD theres no sound...so i did a bit of looking into it and found out when you import the small dvd discs it dosent take any sound from them...

so i downloaded a few demo versions of some home dvd editing software such as showbiz, ulead video studio....and they did the same...they import the video fine but will not import the sound....this is the same with EVERY bit of software i have tried....i just cant get it to recognise the audio....for example the showbiz program i downloaded actually says theres no audio!!!....
now i think the audio is in AC3 format....so i downloaded the codec and this made no difference....

if you try and play the DVD on the computer the sound works fine....

if you download a mpeg movie from the internet the showbiz program works fine and recognizes the sound no problem....

i have spent 2 weeks trying to get this sorted out....ive looked on loads of site and theres loads of technical stuff about converting this file to that and extracting the audio and stuff but im not that clever....i really like the look of the showbiz software but dont want to buy it coz it dont wanna read the audio....why wont it simply read the sound properly....

is there a simply solution to the problem....please help im going nuts and running out of little 8cm discs....

as you can tell im very new to this and cant understand why you cant just buy some software that will work....i dont want to mess about with seperate programs to convert stuff....i simply want a bit of software that i can use to put the little discs onto the big discs and edit the movie inbetween....

    any thoughts....

Sorry, don't have a solution as I've got a DV camcorder.

But, have you tried speaking to someone at the store you purchased it from?
