I really need help, and I can't get anything from Nero tech support, but a big run around. I have 3 different copies of Nero 7, and can't get any of them to work, and Nero tech support, won't help me, or that don't want to help me. But they sure did help them selves fast enough to my money. My 1st copy came from tiger direct, with a DVD burner. It work just fine, I used it just about every day, for about 2 weeks. Then I got into something else and didn't use it for awhile. I went back a month or so later, it wouldn't work, it said my trial period was over. I didn't even know it was a trial disk, so I went on line, registed it and got a serial number. It still wouldn't work, it needed a upgrade, which I had to pay for. I paid for the serial number, now I had to pay for the upgrade. So instead, I decided to just download a new version. Well that failed from the get go, I got trial period over again, and it won't except the new serial number. Now I am really starting to get hot. I can't get anything to work, and I can't get any reply from Nero. Then some one on the web, told me the old serial number was still in my computer, and that is why I couldn't get anything to work. And thery told me how to total clean everything out, which I did, but in doing so, I ended up crashing my registy, and needed to take it to the shop to get it fixed. Now it is up and running, but I still want Nero, and I don't want to download it. I find it on disk at office max, and buy that. Load it up, burn a few disk, it seems to be working. Then I try to play a DVD, now it isn't working, I get CSS protection failed. Well I figured, that can't be that bad, I click on the self help to see what it is, and how to straighten it out. But I didn't get self help, I got a web sight, to download the help. Not wanting to I download the self help files, and try to run them, they don't work. I get another error message, not vaild win 32 application. So I tried to run it off the web sight, instead of downloading it, still wouldn't work. So now I am looking for help on the sight, for help on running the help, and I find the help files on disk, along with the lastest upgrade. So I bought it, hopping to finally put a end to my problems. But it didn't end there, the disk showed up, and it won't work either. The upgrades won't install, I get a black screen flash for a split second then nothing. The help files won't upload either. They have a PDF entention, so I tried to read it with my adobe reader, and get another error message, not right file formate, or file coruppted on download. I have sent e-mail, after e-mail to nero. With no reply, other request for more imformation about this or that. Finally I got feed up with that waiting 3 or 4 days just to get another question. I scanned everything I had serial numbers, reciepts everything, and e-mailed it. A week went by, finally a e-mail, they told me "I didn't have a full version, and I needed to buy nero 9, have a good day". Is there a better program I can buy that will work the way it is suppose to. I don't want nero 9, and my system won't run it any ways. That is why I pick nero 7. It worked before when it was free. Now I have over two hundred bucks invested in this and nothing to show for it, but a lot of e-mail, and many wasted hours. Ed.
If you simply want to convert AVI files to DVD Movie format and burn the DVD, try DVD Flick. It includes the best DVD burning program (ImgBurn) to optionally burn a DVD. It can create a basic menu, add subtitles and the included guide is both clear, concise and easy to follow. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_flick.cfm
I don't know anything about convering files, that might happen later now. I was just trying to play a store bought movie and got that CSS protection failed, what ever that is.
