Your computer is infested with at least one virus. If you can't run McAfee, then you really have a problem, and you will more than likely need to format you hard drive, and start over.

Did you by chance, let Antivirus 2009 invade your computer? If so, you may be able to get rid of it by downloading a fix, on this website:

    http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.html

Oops. I didn't see your reply, ddp. If it is the Antivirus 2009, breapinky won't be able to do a system restore.

Ok i got a tip for you, but firstly can you post what OS your running.

If on Vista Or Windows 7 then i may be able to help.

Try this: Open start menu, point to programs, point to accessories and right click command prompt and choose run as administrator.

Write in the following: net user administrator /active:yes

Then log off and you should see the admin account as a choice, log on and try a system restore.

When done, log on to your normal account and deactivate the admin account by opening the command promt as admin again and typing in the following: net user administrator /active:no

Good luck, let us know how you get on...

GrandpaBW, it depends on how bad that malware affects windows as have sometimes been able to get rid of it easily & other time it was a pain in the butt.

Thanks for the tips-just found out i'm pretty sure it was affected by the Mcafee Update that just hit on thursday. i'm checking with their support tonight to see what they are issuing to correct the problem. :) I'm running Windows XP by the way :) thanks a lot!

Mcafee had a problem with their recent update a couple of days ago as saw it on news friday, supposedly causes pc to loop or something like that.
