Still trying to decide, from what I've read so far the only difference is the ability to play xbox live. A few questions still remain; 1. With a softmod, is it still possible to FTP media to the xbox? 2. Is it possible to perminantly damage the xbox even if i backed everything up on my PC? As I understand I will need a game + Action Replay, which in Canada can cost $40. Would it be wise to spend an extra $20 for an xecuter 3ce, or 2.6ce?
With a Softmod, if you screw up on something, like delete an important file on your system, you will have to start all over with Softmodding it. But with Hardmod, you can find the problem, and fix it without having to start over. My xbox has an Xecuter 3 CE mod chip installed, and I've had it for about 8 months now, and it is working great. You can buy this chip for around $65, and you can get a solderless one, which will make it so you don't have to solder any wires in the system. That is the way I went, and it is a great way to go.
defiantly go with the chip, but if you have even the slightest ability to solder don't go with the Xapt3r (or any solderless adapter) they Will get loose from time to time and require that you open the box again and re-tighten them. kc
btw there is a misconception as to xbox live issue, with some of the newer softmods you can go on live, but I still prefer my duox 2.
chip...chip....chip! I have the DuoX2 as well and have been loving it for about 2 years now. The chip you mentioned is one of the better chips out there right now from what i am told. with a chip it is just easier to replace the hard drive or recover from any deleted files or other things that may happen.
Yeah i love the duox 2, in my opinion it is the best chip for the least amount of money of the market. Reliable and cheap, two of the finest things in the world.
So whats the big difference between duox2 and xecuter3ce?... the price difference is huge. I just want to play emulator n64 games and other ahemm games... if the xecuter 3 has features that i don't need then ill just go for the duox2. EDIT: Will I be able to upgrade the hard drive with this one. I'm prolly going to install a 80GB HDD if that matters.
the Xecuter X3ce is a Lexus with the automatic parking feature for hands free parallel parking on a busy NY street, the DuoX2 is a horse and wagon on an old dirt road. they both get you where you're going but one is a much smoother ride with less hassles. in the over 300 XBOXs I've modded I've used Xecuters in better then 80% of them and customers have a much faster and more successful learning curve with them. kc
The only different in usage between the chips is the installation, once you get past that point there is very little difference. THe Lexus versus horse cart analogy isn't very good. Maybe more like a Lexus and a Ford. Xecuter makes a very good chip and so does duox, it all comes down to price with these two. btw you can do any of the things you wanted to do with theses chips.
DuoX 2 = i've got two BIOS locations to choose from, both of which are 512K.... Xecuter X3ce = I've got 15 BIOS locations to boot from (16 if you include the backup) with my choice from 256K to 2meg X3 Config Live also does everything I'd ever want to do as far as setting up the chip (BIOS or boot settings/boot management) as well as harddrive setup. when i install the X3ce's and new harddrive for customers start to finish (chip install to setting up the new drive to playing games) takes a whole 20 min and the only thing i had to install was the x3294 flash to banks 1+2+3+4 the DuoX2 IMO is still horse drawn cart, no where near a Ford. but just like the automobile world, you get what you pay for which is the analogy bought forth in my previous post. kc
Look, lets be honest here. If all he wants to do is the basic things then he doesn't need to spend extra money on a chip with features he doesn't understand and would never use. Get the DuoX2 installed and you will be just fine. It is not like PS2 mod chips where you can have a drastic difference in what the chip will do and how well it will work. Sure if i had extra money to blow i would always get the best chip, even if i didn't use the features. But that is just me. You can play all your games (original or back up) all the emulators and roms you want (on Slayer 2.7 disc you should find and download) free online gaming with Xlink Kai or Xbconnect stream movies and music via XBMC Play shoutcast radio stations through XBMC Swap out for a larger hard drive and format/re-install with Slayer 2.7 (available through download,a must for any Xbox owner!) and any of the normal things most people use an Xbox for. save your money for blank DVD's because you need some of those you will have no hassle at all out of your DuoX2.
i can't recall all the hundreds of consoles I've chipped and then later had to rechip because the customer changed their mind and wanted all those features they once thought they'd never have a need for, they decided they wanted those options that they passed on previously because they saved a few bucks but then had to pay for a new chip and a new installation. people who have a DuoX2 and have never owned an Xecuter X3ce are the only people who would recommend it. but to each their own. kc
buddy you keep going on about the hundreds of consoles you have chipped. No one cares, we aren't talking about the hundreds of consoles, we are talking this guy right here with his own console. And a duox will suit him just fine.
Kid You don't have a clue what suits anyone just fine except yourself, you don't know what he'll eventually want to do with his box or what features he'll then want. you're content with your horse and wagon that doesn't make it the perfect choice for everyone, no need for your hostility because you choose to take the cheap road. again, the only people who think the DuoX is such a great chip are people who own them and never had a quality chip. kc
