I have an avi file that's approx. 1 GB, and i want to fit it on a 700MB cd-r. What programe is available free that can re-size the picture size so it's smaller and will reduce the file size? Cheers
Virtualdub can re-encode the video for you. You need to decide whether you want to create a Divx or Xvid file. You should also know that re-encoding will reduce picture quality significantly. It's probably better if you split the file so that you can fit it on 2 cd's. You won't lose any quality that way.
You can get a trial version of a very good avi splitter here http://www.brothersoft.com/AVI_Splitter__MPEG_Splitter_Download_18338.html Beware it is only for 10 days! Alternatively I found a site http://www.download-freeware-shareware.com/Multimedia.php?Theme=53 that has a list of programs that seem to fit the bill, although I don't know how well they work.
