Norton ghost\HD backup question HELP!!

    i want to know if the TDK 420n dvd writer is compatible with norton ghost 2003. I looked at the symantec site, and they my drive wasnt tested. If it isnt, could someone tell me how to make an exact copy of my hard drive so that i can restore it exactly to a previous state. Also, does the windows backup utility work?
