This has happend to me a few times and i did a restart and it went back to normal. But if that does not work try reinstalling the program... I konw its a pain ive had to do it a few times. My recommendation is when u finish ur subscription like me when im dome with Nortons im moving to AVG Antivirus...

Yes!! Without a doubt, it picks up more viruses than norton ever does. I tell u if i had not got this subscription till next year i would change now...

AVG is the direction to go towards. If ur near the end of ur subscription

AVG Pro just gives u more options and protects more stuff but basic AVG is good enough...

borhan - you have used avg free and pro?

[bold]How much better is the PRO version.[/bold] I am currently running the free version now - HOWEVER - I also already have Norton. Norton is ok but Every time it updates it screws up my freggin email specs and I have to get my email str8 through the host sites - which is a pain in the butt! Since you all are talking about two programs that I ustilize - would like some feedback about that.

Thanx for getting back w/ me so quickly - after I worte that message I went to the grisoft site and saw that I could get a free trial - but I picked the one that said avg plus firewall - well I DL'ed it and it really looks exactly the same minus the firewall features - then When I came back here and read your copied section - and see from what I can tell - the difference between the free version I was using and the professional version probably wont make a bit of difference for me so I think I am going to stick w/ the free version for now.

Do you have problems w/ your Norton causing conflict w/ your email (outlook or express)? I cant figure outwhat to change in Norton to make it stops messing up my email. I cane send & receive and it is DEFINITELY a NORTON ISSUE.

Well i have Nortons Internet Security 2005 on all 4 of my computers and they dont conflict with Outlook Express at all.

I have had issues with nortons b4 which i had to either restart the computer or i had to completley reinstall NIS again, which was a pain. But it never conflicted with Outlook Express. After i had installed NIS and whent too my outlook express it asked me if i want to itergrait NIS with outlook and i said yes all that does is sort out the spam with the propper email.

If your gettin major conflict try reinstalling it and leavin everythin on default levels and make sure u intergrate NIS with Outlook and u should b fine.

I just had a thought another reason u may have an issue with outlook could b u need to make sure u have all the updates downloaded and installed from windows update site. That could causing ur conflict...

    Keep me posted...

It may be too late now borhan - the Norton I have came w/ my newest comp and I uninstalled it - again - but I was only able to re-install it because I had recently re-formatted my HD. I wanted to clean out my system for real because I had been having issues with some other software that i no longer wanted to utilize and all the restores and uninstalling werent helping. Now everything is working great again - EXCEPT that Norton w/ my outlook. Do you know of a way I can re-install it?

I may not even worry about it though. After the discussion you and I have already had - I feel pretty comfortable w/the AVG. That is what I had been using before.

If Norton's came with your computer did u get the CD backup of the program or was the installation program allready on ur pc, if soo its too late now that u formated everything. If uve done that stick with AVG and dont worry about nortons, unless u want it really badly u can get the 2003 version off P2P with no hassle, but i would recommend goin with AVG cause then u wont have the hassle of subscription anymore :)

Good Luck and keep me posted...

No it didnt come w/ a backup disk-only on the recovery HD (these companies are so TRIFE! these days) Naw, I dont even want it real bad *L* Before I had done the re-formatting I had gotten rid of it months before doing that anyway *L* But once I re-formatted I figured I would see if I would still have the same problems - and I did *L*

Yeah the AVG works really well with all my other programs. My outlook is back on track again, and everything.

Comp is finally running smooth again - YIPPEE-

I really appreciate your input too - Sometimes I would wonder about the AVG because it always said I didnt have any viruses *L* But I have seen a few ppl here and there say it finds many so I just pobably am not doing as much internet using as some others. Not that I want any viruses because I certainly DO NOT! *L* But it re-assures me that I am on the right track with the AVG.

Just FYI for anyone out their who may have read our posts - found out I do not have to have the disk for software that came w/ the comp (I am sure many of you may already know this) but for the ppl who did not - if you ever purposely or accident remove software (like NORTON ANTIVIRUS) that originally came w/ your XP PC - you can go to START --> PC HELP & TOOLS --> APPLICATION RECOVERY and it will re-install the program(s) you pick.

Of course - I am still sticking w/ AVG but its good to know FYI

Good to c everything is back to normal and ur up and runnig again.

The reason y people may have more attacks like u said they use the net maybe more often and also remember u just reformated your pc, soo it will take u awhile... But im glad too c everything is back to normal.
