Did a system restore because video's would not play from sites, and now i can't download anything! It was fine before i did the system restore(did a few even a weeks time back). Using Maxthon browser (doing the same thing in IE 7) Win XP, cable internet. And have 17gigs of free space. Anyone help me figure this problem out?? The other computer downloads things just fine. On a router as well.

a couple of things. Have you got the router locked down?????
You should see if there is any result if you connect to the internet directly, not through a router.

I have a feeling that something bad is running in the background. What i suggest is that you use zonealarm to control the operation of your computer. It will work well with your other anti-virus programs. But it will have a problem with avast, just tell it to ignore avast and the two will get along fine :)

As to the hijackthis log:Sorry but iam as lazy as everybody else, but what i suggest is that you find the main files in suspect in your log and search them on google. From there you can see wether the file in suspect is an infection or not.

i.e: out of the the file "C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe" you choose the suspect file name, which in this case is "smss.exe" and then search that file on google.

before all this you should see the programs that you know are safe and have installed yourself. An example would be file "C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exe" this is something you have installed and can trust. Tick the box next to it (on the left), then continue to do the same for the other files that are safe or you have installed. Then click on the box that says "add checked to ingorelist" this box is located at the bottom right corner.

If you have any problems, just ask.
