Not sure of file format

    i downloaded a file with the format ending in divx.avi, i tried to play it and it would'nt play audio or video. i ran the file through g-spot and it says not an avi file. so now i'm confused, is the file completely unplayable? i'm confused and need some serious tutoring.
    pc is pentium 4 , windows xp, 512mb

    Go to http://www.divx.com and get the newest DivX Codec and player. If the problem is still there look for some codec packs like FFDSHOW or try to get the Xvid codec also. Hope that helps !
