I am looking for a new dvd burner for my pc and I need some information.

First off I what is better to have more cache or ram on your burner?
I want the new one to be able to pick up speed faster when ripping movies because mine right now should be able to rip at 8x but doesnt ever get to that speed.

I tried on newegg to put in the top speeds for everything but nothing showed up. What I realy want is top ripping pickup speeds, 16x burning and ripping, fast dual layer burning and fast DVDRW ripping burning. Cd-r doesnt matter.

Why on newegg does it give you both of them? One is 8x and the other is 5x.

I hear quite a few members rave on Plextor having a very fast rip speed. The faster rip speed does have its drawbacks on them. The drives wear out quicker.

I use a separate dvd rom drive along with my benq 1620 for a faster process time. Insert original and blank in the drives,4/5 clicks later-process starts-20-30 mins later,it spits both out.Thats at 4x burn speed.

The main things I look for is: Compatability on the stand alone players/Booktyping/and Quality brand name.

    Just my 2cents worth.
