HI, I foolishly bought an American (NTSC) Sony digital camcorder, minitape type, and I live in England, so my Sony HDD and disc dvd recorder is a PAL machine. I cannot get the tapes to record onto the hard drive of the dvd recorder. I know it is possible to buy analogue converters, but I am guessing that they would significantly adversely affect the signal quality.
    Any ideas please?

Well, The only thing I can think of is to Not use the DVD Recorder at all and Transfer the NTSC Video from your Camcorder to your PC and then Convert the NTSC Video to Pal and then author it to DVD on your PC.....

Once you get the NTSC Video on to your PC there are some programs that Can convert the NTSC Video to Pal Mpeg-2 files that you can Author to DVD useing a DVD Authoring Program.....

    Cheers

Thanks very much. I was thinking it might have to be something like that. Maybe I should just sell the camcorder and buy a British one!
