I have a dvd recording (NTSC) on my hdd, and when i copy it to a dvd and play this dvd on my regionfree dvd player, the left and right sides are cut off (first letter of name is cut off at the left side of the screen, and the same happens on the right side). Also there is no sound! BUT, when i play the file (wich is on my harddisk) the picture is right and there is sound. What can i do to get it to play with a complete picture and with sound?
The missing picture is due to overscan. Search for more info, but basically you need to pad the picture so that the padding gets cut off instead. The audio, not sure. What format is it? AC3? DTS? mpa?
Compressionmodus video : MPEG-2 TV-system : 525/60 Aspectratio : 4:3 Resolution : 720x480 Audio-format : Dolby Digital Sampling frequentie : 48000 Sampling kwantisation : 0 Audiochannels : 6 Audio-streams : 1 is this any needed info? How can i change the problem? What do i use? Is there something simple?
Again sorry for the double post, have been experiencing some connection problems with this forum over the past few days. Strange.
yes, i tried to re-rip it using recode and dvdshrink, it just stays the same, no sound and picture cut on left and right. it`s driving me mad!
Don't go mad yet! *_* 1) You may be missing some codecs: Try download and install K-Lite Codec Pack (full or mega version). 2) Burn again, but to harddisk first for checking. 3) If o.k., then burn to dvd (use a rw for test if possible). 4) If problem still persists, then maybe something wrong with DVD player. Try adjust its settings.
I have a k-lite codec pack installed (maybe older version, i`ll check). I always burn to HDD before burning to DVD. Have used RW disc. Have tried the disc on several players, some regionfree, some not, but all have the same problem. The sound on the dvd is 5.1 DD, but even if it does not play sound on the telly, wich is possible, it should play over my Home Cinema System, but there is no sound there too! That`s what is so strange, on the PC it`s o.k., but on my player it`s S**T. I play my dvd on a Plasma or LCD tv. Both can play ntsc dvd`s (i order from the US and Canada, on a monthly basis). Hopefully you can still help me further. I really appreciate it!
Interesting. Did you begin with a dvd compliant movie (i.e. with Audio_TS and Video_TS folders) or did you convert from e.g. avi, mpeg?
Both audio and video maps are there. The entire recording plays perfectly on my computer (using nero showtime for playback). If i burn the exact same files to a dvd, then the problem occurs. (have burnt many dvd`s after that, pal AND ntsc, and they are all fine) I have tried to convert the files, now including a selfmade menu, in nero vision express, and at the end (before burning) it only gives a message, saying something like, the files are mostly ntsc, and would i like to change the menu part, wich is in pal to ntsc also. If i do this then the process on converting is very short, and no files are written to my hdd.
Well, it must be hell of a movie if you would take such great pains to burn it right. *_* If you like to experiment, try rip the movie into a popular video format (e.g. avi) with e.g. ImtooDVD Ripper, then encode again with VSO DivxToDVD, then burn with Nero. Good luck!
Will i still keep the same picture quality? Compressing the file to AVI or DivX and the converting to DVD again would reduce the picture, or am i wrong? LET IT BE (1969)
