Ok on my Windows 98 machine I'm having some issues that I seem to be unable to fix by myself. Lately I've had various errors (most recently system error &H80004005) popping up for no reason, and things (some games) suddenly not working when they have been all day. Rebooting fixes the problem. My add/remove programs window shows that I have no programs installed. Now, I'm not entirely sure this is the appropriate category to post this in, but I'm very much in need of help. I'm posting my Hijack This log in case it, in some way gives my helper enough information to start with.

Could someone at least help me figure out why there are no programs listed in my add/remove programs window?

you probably need to reinstall windows. if you have your windows 98 SE disc, backup all your data first. make sure to create a startup disc. then restart Windows into MS-DOS mode. at the command prompt type 'format x:' (where x is your drive letter). once formatted
insert your startup disc and load windows with cd-rom support. insert your disc and type x: once it comes up type 'cd (name of setup file) and hit enter. Windows setup should start.

As Shado36 said you should definitely get rid of Win98, theres so many security, performance and stability issues that just arent worth the trouble.

If the machine runs 98 then it will run 2000 so why not hunt down a copy from your friendly P2P or ask a friend neighbour etc to loan you a copy.

http://www.frsirt.com/english/product/4326 has a list of problems for Win98 just to give you an idea of how bad it is, i mean it's close to a decade old.
