I am new here and I am not too sure if this is where I should post this... my question is is the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics card good? It comes with the PC I am getting today and I want to know if it is good enough to play morrowind...lol I have one other question though, is there a way to see what kind of graphics card I have without opening up my PC? thanks for any help.
My computer at work has this and is slows down sometimes with UT 2004, so no it's no good. It's not even a Graphics cards, its a integrated graphics chip. You should probably consider getting a 7600 GT if you want to play newer games.
Didnt you already post a thread like this? But to answer your question, the 6150SE SUCKS! As abuzar1 said, its an integraded chip on your mobo, which is real bad for gaming. Consider getting a mid to high 7 series card by nvidia, like a 7600 (as abuzar1 said). Even a 7300 is better than a 6150!
I didn't even pay attention that its like that thread before lol. I've found that pre-built computers are always lacking in something. I remember seeing "Gaming Computers" from Compaq with only 512 MB of RAM!
I was just looking in a best buy catalog today, and saw a Gateway computer that had a quad core processor and 3GB of ram, but a 6150SE graphics card in it... If these people are going to build "good" computers, then why dont they ever finish them with a half-way decent gfx card?
I dont know what all the complaning is about? sure I know "NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE' is not top of the line. but Ive recently purchased a 'amd64/160gbhd/1gbram/NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE....and although Im not a huge gamer, Ive been playing f.e.a.r, halo, far cry and the new sega rally without any problem. no slow downs or crash's at all...Im really surprised...Im going to get a better one eventually, cause Im sure the games would look better..but as far as not handling games well or slowing down.....I gotta call bs
Well, we're talking default here, you've obviously reduced your settings to the bare minimum, I personally don't like playing games like that as they look like they're 5 years old.
resolution is 1280/768 not sure what your talking about...these games look really good...no choppieness or lag...i realize my pc lacks....but this card has play'd anything ive thrown at it....I was replying to your statement ""The 6150se can probably play Morrowind, but nothing recent, it's a very poor graphics card"" which is false...sure Im getting a better card but your statement is false
the statement "it's a very poor graphics card" is not false, it is one of the slowest graphics adapters still available on the market. However, it looks like you can play more than I was expecting with it. However, I had a look through the FEAR settings page today and can see why, that game's customisable to look very good,or very bad, depending. Bad is of course a relative term.
Ok, well if my old 6800GS 512mb card couldnt play BF2 on high, at 1024x768 then the 6150 sure as HELL cant play fear nicely. Also, sam is talking about the graphis being on high, not the resolution.
There are cheeky shortcuts for FEAR though, like with most games. If you're prepared to live without object shadows (you'll get shadows, but not object-specific ones) then turn off shadows, and turn up lighting. The opening part for extraction point has gone from: 2048x1536, Trilinear filtering, softshadows off - 6fps to 2560x1600, 16x Anisotropic filtering, softshadows on - 50fps I've doubled the graphics intensity and upped the resolution and yet get over 7x better performance. The game now looks and runs superb.
thnks for all the input guys...I really need to install a new "good" graphics card to see the differnce myself....what would you guys recomend? (around 100$)
A 7600 GT would do you good. To put in my 2 cents about the 6150, when I used it it couldn't play UT 2004 without lagging so it's definitely a poor performer.
Agreed, FEAR can be turned down to very low detail, making up for the fact that the 6150 still is a dire graphics card, sorry but it's true.
Wow thanks for the tips guys but whats the best graphics card I can get for under 130$ since thats all I got right now....
