Hello there, Lately i've been having alot of trouble with my DvD Backups. I was using offbrand media and had skipping problems, so i asked a friend whats up, and he suggested i burn at 4x (think i was doing 8x before..) So i did a few like that, and more often than not they worked, but i still didn't like how some would skip. So i did away with the offbrand stuff and bought 200 TDK DvD-R's 1-16x. My problem is, in nero with these new 1-16x TDKs, i can't choose a burnspeed less than 6x. with my crappy "computer essentials" dvd's i could pick 4x, but with these TDK's i can't. I've tried at 6x and still have skipping issues. Could this also be because of my cheap-end dvd burner/player (below). If my skipping problems could be for any other reason, any info is apreciated. Also, Does anyone have any tips for DvDripping programs? i use cloneDVD but since alot of mine arent working for me, maybe i should try something else out. Thank you. DvD Burner: Lite-on DVDRW SOHW-1693S (I THINK is the model) DvD Player: Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 Nero: 7 ultra Media: TDK 1-16x DVD-R
TDK's are junk media too... try verbatim or taiyo yuden, sony, maxell, fuji... as far as your burner goes, see if the firmware is up to date, try this link... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2056 KSOB is the latest !
Damnit i thought TDK's were good.. just bought 200 of them (good thing i only paid 40) I'll try that firmware thing out. Thanks.
It's fine that you can only burn 6x. I can only burn 6x, that's all media but Verbatim MCC002s. I honestly don't think burning 2x too fast is causing all those burns. I have that drive and I only burn 6x (mostly b/c taht's all I can choose from). I can even burn w/ 8x and still get a 90 on Nero's quality test.
