    Hello,
My xbox (softmodded) has enjoyed a long period of error 16 for some reason. after finding this forum i was finally able to understand what went wrong with it and what i should do. (thanks!)
Currently I'm using a large HD on it, so i used my original HD in the solution to error 16 as opposed to the friend's HD mentioned here.
After setting the clock right i replaced the HD with the previous one and was greeted with error 13.
At this point i tried both methods suggested but i am unable to proceed beyond this point:
    1. Booting using Slayer's CD 2.6 -> the XBOX logo stays on screen, and strangly enough i can see the Slayer's CD screen behind it(??) needless to say it wont respond at this point to any button presses.
    2. Booting using a game - using both an original game and a burnt one brings up error 21.

This is the first time i've encountered a situation when the XBOX boots with the Slayer's disk on the background of the logo (works fine on original HD) and i wasn't able to find threads about this.

I would be greatful for any help.

I consider format in regards to HDs as the doomsday weapon.
I would rather try other possibilities before killing it.
My main problem is that i have some movies on that disk i would like to rescue.
Is there any way i could access that HD's content?

I have the same problem to you when upgrade larger HDD using slayer 2.6, mine didnt work rite. i dont know usually i install everything which is in the third menu options which they install everything.( i just follow everything on the slayer manual guide) but when i found error 16 i couldnt find which need to fix the clock.
    my question are:
    1. do i need to change my original hdd to fix or change the clock?
    2. i have something to do while i am in the slayer program (while you run the slayer program)?

please help me. any respond will greatly appreciated.

While the large HD is connected the XBOX is not working properly. meaning no FTP access, no boot (error 13) and no boot from cd (I can see the slayer [bold]behind[/bold] the MS logo but the machine is frozen.
has anyone encountered something like that?
is the any method to access an XBOX HD without an XBOX?

    [bold]bagong[/bold], i was answering [bold]theridges's[/bold] question.

If i understood you situation correctly you have now error 16.
According to the forums, this error is because the xbox lost the internal clock (this can happen if it was disconnect from the power for more than 5 hours) plus you may have a corrupted xboxdash (this can happen on a modded box after running a game that updates the dash).
To fix you need an HD from a [bold]working[/bold] xbox.
Basically you need to unlock that HD and connect it to your own xbox.
after you boot it, the working HD will reset your xbox clock.
Now you can remove it and insert your HD.
    This should fix.
however you may receive error 13 afterwards.
Error 13 is due to corrupted xboxdash.
you can fix it by using slayer's CD or even running a game that updates the xboxdash.
This is the point I am stuck at...

I hope this info is usful for you.

I think i got error 13 fixed, error 13= i put upgrade hdd new on it which not recognize by xbox console, so what u need to do is need something to booting up from the cd.
in my cases i i boot it from my chip (wiht multiple bios bank), my bios is evox m8.
so first of all place slayer cd in your DVD tray,
then power on with modchip on (using M8 in my cases).
it should be work, your xbox should be read your slayer cd...if the error 13 still coming up...keep retrying like the 1st 2 steps, it happens with your DVD player since the lens is dirty and hard to read your cd.

when you are in slayer mode after all the above been done, according to the forum and my research. NOTE: I am using the slayer v2.6; so i chose the menu number (4a10) which [bold]INSTALL/RESTORE M$ DASH 185ead005960 ON (C:)[/bold]
the forum says i might be endup with useless extrafile, but mine works nicely...

the thing is my xbox large HDD now is work like original HDD which very simple, need to recall for the m8 bios if i wanna play backup. it cannt do it rite away like in the dashboard.

if someone know how to do it please tell me. thank you very much and good luck bro, hope it helps
