How do u know the right amount to use in order to achieve a small enough file size to fit on a single layer dvd-r? That's the only problem I've had using CCE
The number of passes shouldn't affect the size of the output, just the quality. It's debatable whether anything more than 2 passes (1 VAF pass and 1 M2V pass in CCE SP terms) makes any difference in quality. What kind of problems are you having with the output size, what version of CCE are you using, and are you using it with another program like DVD-RB or DVD2DVDR?
Good looks on responding I'm using CCE SP Ver. 2.67.00.27 along with DVD Rebuilder Basically, I'm having a problem when I rip a large dvd (say around 7 GB's) it comes out too big for a dvd-r Can I do anything to fix this? THe reason I ask about passes is because I know some groups (such as the one who ripped Harry Potter, but I won't name them) include in the nfo how many passes they used I thought maybe that affected the size Thanks for any help in advance
The latest version of Rebuilder is .63a. What version are you using? If it is an older version, I would suggest seeing what happens before changing any settings.

Yes, mine have always been right at 4.32 GB. I began with RB .56, and it has always been that way using Basic CCE. There were issues with your version of CCE, though, and some couldn't get it to work until RB was revised.
The only sizing issues I've had have been due to my custom settings. When I haven't had the output size tweaked through the REBUILDER.INI file I've always ended up with a disc that's approximately 4.32GB.

Weird I made a copy of Smallville which is 7 gb's and it came to the right size this time Must've been my version of Rebuilder Props to u guys for the help One more question: Is there a way besides just looking at the dvd to know it's higher quality than using DVDShrink or another application?
There are different tools used to analyze the I, B, and P frames that make up the video, but ultimately it's our sense of sight and personal preference which tells us what is quality.
^^^^ What tools are there? And a new problem, lol on 2 of my three dvd players, the sound doesn't sync up This has never happened before I'm figuring it has to more do with the DVD players than with anything else, but just asking Any suggestions?
