First edit out your serial no, it starts with 1A20 XXXX XXXX XXXX

Your Nero is way behind, update to latest 6.6.1.4 from Nero site

You dont have a lot of free memory, dont multitask while burning, close down all unnecessary progs including spyware

You are burning too close to edge of disc, set target at 4300

try burning at 4X

your burner doesnt like ypur media, try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden

Here's few more for ya!
Turn this back on to dma - here's link if needed:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf
Your burning with an eternal drive? - and Nero can't fully recognize the drive. The Nero update should help this. If you have shrink and autoburn w/ nero - update to version 6.6.0.18. Here's a link for that one:
http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe
If not the case then update to the version gwen lists.
This is quality stuff - manufacturer for Verbatim and owns them too!
So since your drive isn;t fully recognized can't tell if you have the latest firmware or not. Make sure it's up to date.
File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS':
Roxio and Nero do not play well together. Uninstall Roxio then run the zapper to make sure all is clear. Here's link:

@binkie7, I know the MMC discs should be good and I thought it strange re medium error. Where do you find log file for Nero6, I have 7 and apparently its different to 6. Cheers

@Gwen
Credit brobear for posting that in another thread. Here's a thread that needs the previous 7 version. Can you post a link to it there? I couldn't find one.

i have burned on this before.. with some ty's..

yes.. it is an external usb. its my gf's machine. she's got a 17 inch toshiba laptop. i wont be able to do anything til tuesday. but i will keep you guys posted.
i'll do those things that you suggested.

have burned verbs and ty's on this drive. its strange that it would be the media. but we'll see.. it may be that those other issues are screwing all this up..

thanks again.

edit: i realize i didnt run the zapper for roxio before the burns.. but then the maxell wouldnt have burned correctly...

here is what video help says about the burner itself. there is a comment about flashing this with benq firmware.. but i dont want to run the risk of screwing up the drive.

I never crossflashed by drives - if it doesn't work the problem is you may fry your drive. So the choice is yours.
You can register at i/o magic's site and I think you can then check for the current firmware - imo that's the better option. Hopefully they have updated firmware for this drive that will sort it out!
Nothing really out of line in the log except your drive is not liking those verb's. What a shame - in my experience mcc has been great!

someone in this thread mentione dsomething about burning too close to the end of the disc and trying to stay around 4300. I haven't really been paying much attention to where its burning too. If all my burns are succesful should i worry? Or will I find a not nice suprise at the end of my movies? (I use taiyo yudens)

If you are using Taiyo Yudens you should not find a surprise at the end, they are one or the best media. Staying away from the edge is usually recommended for the less than quality media such as Memorex and other CMC Mag media.

I rarely reduce my target size & mainly use Taiyo. Arniebear's right - no surprises - perfect playback.

i really dont want to do this.. i will try the ty's on this.. i have checked their site and made sure i had the latest firmware.. and it is pissing me off that i cant burn my luvely mccs.
i believe office max or best buy is having the sale on the sony discs.. if i find the mijs.. i will pick those up..
on a side note.. my gf.. now also has a new G5 iMac.. luving this thing.. i have a mac mini at home with an external lacie.. luv that thing.. this new imac does have a nice pioneer drive that will booktype.. luvs my verbs..
here is the link to the drive in the imac
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/p...B,00.html?compName=PNA_ProductDetailComponent

i will check to see if the other one will burn the TY's.. i'm thinking its partial to ricohs.. (so far) it did burn the maxell rw+. again.. that drive doesnt booktype so there's no use for the +. worse case scenario.. i'll burn the ty / sony's on her new mac..

i will keep you updated on what media it does take

I don't blame on the crossflash - other members here do it - I'm just not that comfortable with it. Some do it to make their drive booktype but I have drives that will do this so no need for me.
Keep us posted! Have you tried those verbs in any other burner?
Best Buy is having a sale think it's either sony or fuji 25 for 7.99.
