Hey i have a old comp thats with xp on it and when i upgraded to xp i still had all the files from the previous version only they dont work how do i do a clean install with no files but the main things you get with the disk and what programs can speed it up?
Well the disk came with a new comp we brought. The cd is attached to a booklet that says windows xp home. And was covered in a plastic bag type case, one of those ones you just tear open with your fingers and was sealed until i installed it on my other comp.
well the old comp that has those files i want to get rid of was a windows 98 and now is an xp home edition.
if wanting to start from scratch, write down what all the devices in device manager like video, sound, net card, modem & usb so that you can download latest drivers from manufacturers for xp. use a win98 bootdisk to fdisk & format the drive & see if the xp cd will boot off the cdrom if configured in the bios. if can't boot off cd than use your win98 bootdisk with cdrom support to load xp home edition
well on the my old computer the cd rom drive when i turn on my computer makes a clicking noise 2 times. And whenerver i want to play a cd it opens i put in the cd close the tray and it makes the clicking noise once is there a way 2 fix this or should i buy a new one?
