I have an at least 60 year old AVI in black and white. Overall picture quality and sound is not bad, but it seems it's out of contrast or something or needs to be sharpened up a a bit because there's a kind of white film to the video. Is there anything I can do do clean it up some?

I ran it through AVS video converter and every time I tweek it to my liking while the program is open, when I apply the effects and hit save, upon playback it never shows the changes I made to it. I know that virtualdub or avidemux might be able to help it with the right filters. Would you know anything about that or do you have any other app recommendations?

    Thanks
