    Hey people!

Now that I got you attention, check this out...

I find it funny that with all the tech talk on dvd burning/games/and everything else, I have yet to see a thread based on computer issues!

Well now, here is your chance to scream, holler, kick, cry, or whatever you do whenever you get a pc issue that you are frustrated with!

For me: I always have Ram or video issues. OMG! I am so sick and tired of it sometimes, I can't barely open anything on my computer, even worse, recently I did a re-install of WinXP and can't even play Diablo 2. The game is freaking like 10 years old for crying out loud. I used to run it, but not anymore!

Anyways, I'd like to see what people come up with, whether it is port-forwarding a router to removing countless viruses, to the in-laws always installing things on your pc and you have to spend hours cleaning it up.

    Let's hear it folks!

    :p

BTW...if there is a thread like this, please close it and if possible, let me know the link.

havent seen any other threads like this..

i agree on the in-law things.. that's why i'm glad i run on mac..
i sell computers and accessories and what not..

my all time favorite question---no matter if its Pee Cee or Mac..
"Why is my computer running slow?"

    two questions come to mind...

    1. what apps / programs you running?
they'll name about 5-7.. and they're all running at once..

    2. how much ram do you have?
my fave answer is: "i got a whole lot of that... i think 256mb or 512mb"

i luv being on the phone because they cant see me roll my eyes..

i know a lot of people dont know everything about computers, some are just getting into them. but they should be informed when they buy computer or software of how much RAM they need.

then when they wanna buy the RAM, if its a mac.. heck.. even on pc.. we need to know what kind of machine it is.. for the type of ram..

"what is your system? processor? what is the highest type of ram does your motherboard support?"

    then they reply:

"how do i find that out?"

just a mess.. again... know a little more about your computer.. you've had it a while.. you should know this.

please, if you call me for ram.. please know what you need or what you have so i can find you the ram?

I remember trying to install the first grand theft auto on one of my other pc's and it wouldnt work. Not because the PC was old but because it was too powerful. In the end I gave up and since R* have released GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas which kick the crap outta GTA 1

I'm real annoyed that my ISP can't upgrade my broadband to 2mb like they can with the other customers. Something to do with where I live, they can't update it. So that leaves me stuck at 512kbps..
which Is a shame because ever other aspect of their service is generally quite good.

If you find a ISP which can offer you a 2MB service then i would switch. there are 100's out there. but if it's due to where you live then i would stick with Virgin. they seem pretty cheap. also as there is no 12 month contract u could end your service with them at any time

Yeah thanks for the advice. It's mainly due to where I live so, If I'm gonna contact my MP and ask for the phone lines to be updated. Thanks anyway.

    @sui-cyco

Actually, this isn't a thread about computer issues. This is more of a thread about the aggravations concerning any pc issue you have had in the past and present. This is more like a story board for people who have had the worst pc issues they have ever encountered.

    Hope this clearifies things.

    Catch ya in the forums!

ok heres one .Bought a netgear firewall router.Set it up right and it works perfectly. The only problem is every time you go to a p2p site it says you are fire walled and there fore you get a low ID.sO I changed the settings allowed the p2p to be accessed throught a certain port.Did that work no, still fire walled.Turned all the virus protections off, turned the dmz function on the bloody thing off and that should of put me the other side of the router.Went to the p2p site and man i'm set.You guessed it i'm firewalled still.

bUT I did beat it.Had to re install my USB adsl modem and now i'm not firewalled but prone to bloody viruses and driver drop outs from the modem.

Do you think that could have been solved by using an anonymous IP (i,e, Invisible Browsing?) Just a thought.

i tried that as well still wouldnt allow it .Also tried having a static ip

As for a Static IP, that's locally right, as far as I know only PCs on your network can see it. But your Internet IP is what sites can restrict. I would've thought Invisible Browser would have helped because there are so many regions of IPs to choose from. I know I have had mine set on other IPs and wasn't able to access everyday sites like but as soon as it was disabled, I was back to normal. Anyway, glad you posted that, it'll keep me on the look out.

got to the stage where i changed so many functions that the router lost connection to the pc and i had a job of getting it back on line.Since i had so many probs with it , its all packed up sitting in the box and i'm back to using a USB one. This one doesnt have a built in firewall but i re installed my nortons and the p2p sites i visit now say i have a high ID with this configuration.

Using the USB one probably only gives you what, 10 maybe 11kb/s top speed or is it different?

THE router only gave me 2.3 kbps
the usb gives me up to 50 kbps down
    10 kbps up on p2p

From other sites its roughly 68kbps
