Yo, i finally opened my tower case and put in a cd rw-writer, after applying the jump cables etc, i powered my comp and everything was fine, i tried reading a cd-r which read with no problems, i tried burning an audio disc using

Windows Media Player-i get the error reading "encountered a problem etc etc, click on more details if needed"

i then installed realplayer and everytime i try opening the program it crashes and reads "this program has stopped working...windows is finding a solution"

i then researched on the net that maybe it might be due to the digital/analog cable not connected in the writer, as i then opened my tower again, i connected the digital cable wire from one writer to the other [from LG CD-RW CED-8080B ATA to LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S ATA]

again, windows still encountered the error and i had already uninstalled realplayer.

audio discs using windows media player plays with no sound, but plays fine using media player classic

i then installed avs audio creator, the cd burnt fine and again, played fine with media player classic, but not with windows media player.

is there anything im doing wrong, anything to fix this solution?

    im running windows 7 btw.

the cd-rw writer is pretty old, it only burns upto 8x but my main dvd-rw writer, the cd-rw laser has died, which was good.

please help, any suggestions would be appriciated, thanks.
