Hello, all. I am completely new to DVD's and such and have one simple thing to ask. I have a PS2 and want to burn a VCD of dl'ed video clips to watch on it, but I have only a CD-RW and not a DVD burner. I have burnt a few VCD's with various software, but none will play on the PS2, even tho the VCD's burnt successfully, so it is obviously a software problem. I tried Roxio and Nero so far. No luck. My question is whether or not I can EVEN burn a VCD using just a CD-RW that will play on a PS2, or do I HAVE to have a DVD burner? If I simply have to locate the right software, then I will persist. Any help would be greatly appreciated....
As far as I know the PS2 can't read VCD's. Just because it can read dvd's doesn't always mean that it can read VCD's. Nowadays most settop players can read VCD's. You can defenitley burn a VCD on a CD-RW just as long as the equipment that you're playing it in can read CD-RW. Why wouldn't you just want to record it to a CD-R? Nero to me personally is by far the best for burning VCD's. The latest version has built in encoder software that will re-encode your video file before burning in case it's not compliant with the VCD standards. Hope any of this helped feel free to ask any other questions!
