Hello. Does anybody know anything about the quality, or lack thereof, of ONIDTECH dvd-r's? I purchased 50 from ebay. They are 4x discs, with mirror tops. Thanks in advance for the help.
Just bought 50. Best disk thus far has 2 sectors light damage. Everything else is a straight-up coaster. 4 so far. Stay away.
Wish I could stay away. I too bought 50 and had quite a few problems. What are you using to burn with, software wise? If it allows compression, try to avoid filling the disk. Compress it down to between 4.0 and 4.2 gb. I tried this, and it seems to work fine. I run each disc throught dvdinfopro when I burn it, and they all read 100% with no errors. I wish I had found this forum sooner- just ordered some ritek dvd-r, on the advice of everyone on here.
used nero, dvdfab, no matter. bad sectors about halfway through on this one. Maybe for light jobs, but meanwhile I think I'll have to go get some more for current purposes.
What do you mean light jobs? Ive been backing up entire movies with shrink and decrypter, and havent had a problem since i fixed the compression. You may also want to burn at half speed. (if your discs are 4x, burn at 2x.) This should produce a higher quality burn. The compression bit will help because most of cheap media's problems arise on the outer edge of the disc. Hope this helps.
Well, I avoid compression like the plague, I'm more of a splitter type. I'm burning at 2X. Actually, the last 3 have been alright. I'm suspecting damage from transportation of goods. Score thus far 3 bad, 1 acceptable, 3 good. Having gone through a couple spindles of other brands without any coasters, I conceed my expectations may have been unrealistic.
