Optorite problems

Hi all. I've read all the posts about media types but don't think this is the same problem. I have tried recording data discs with Nero 6 as well as trying movie copies with DVDXCopy Express. I have used Ritek media -R media as well as Verbatim +R media. In all cases, it appears that the drive is recording the disc yet when I try to read it back in the Optorite no directory information is displayed. If I put the discs in my laptop DVD all I get is a constant head search to the point where I have to eject the disc to make it stop. My JVC DVD player would not read the DVDXC movie disc at all and essentially locked up. I do not have the latest firmware and I bought the drive in June. One other thing, I used to use Roxio 6 and when I wrote data to a -R disc using the drag and drop recording, the disc was completely unreadable after ejecting. I also tried a +RW and it left the disc completely unusable. Does anyone have another idea I can try or does it sound like my drive is toast? Thanks!

Nero is a good program but my optorite seems to work better with Stomp's Recordnow Max for a burning software. I do not know which firmware you are using but I am using 2.11 and have had great success with xcopy xpress movies and the ones I make with dvd decrypter as well. Just my opinion but it sounds like your drive might be toast.

i bought the optorite as well but i have already retured it.

i burned 4 diferent brand dvd-r disks, a bulkpak, ritek, verbatim and a datawrite.

the dvd writter could read them, my pioneer dvd-rom could not. i have tried them in my laptop and they dint work. Then i tried on an asus dvd-rom and they worked, then on another pioneer dvd-rom and they didnt work.

a 50% compatibility is not what i was hoping for so i returned it. I'll buy the pioneer since more people seem to be happy with it.

P.S i used both nero 6 and the bundled software for the recordings.

I would make sure you are on the latest firmware for the DD0203. I believe it is 2.16. Once I upgraded my drive to that level, I have never had a problem with it using Nero 6.
