My son has the original xbox. Upon pressing the power button, it takes a while to load, the button flashes red and shows error code 13 in the top left corner. I would like to know how to fix this from home. I have paid microsoft enough already for the game, and I have a ton of money tied up in games. Can I fix this at home? I need a complete walkthrough without having to surf through a ton of internet crap to find the fix. Can anyone help?
You've got a few options. You can try inseting a newer game which has Xbox live on it and telling it to connect (No ethernet cable connected), the game will then update your Dash. Your other option, should that not work, is to Hotswap. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/332766 Hotswap allows you to 'Unlock' the Xbox HDD, connedct it temporarily to your PC and reinstall the dashboard. This is a simple and pretty safe procedure. You can't damage your PC unless you are a complete moron. Follow the guide above to the letter. Run the procedure over in your head a few times and make sure you understand EVERYTHING!
