Ok to start its an original xbox which was initially chipped with an xecuter 3 and a 160GB hdd.

The fault was that the xbox would flash three times and then no sound or picture. When the mod was disabled the error 06 came up meaning that it could not unlock the bigger hard drive. (I think)

The xbox would allow me to enter the backup by holding down power and eject and so I tried re-flashing the chip to no avail.

Would delete current flash and then get stuck half way with new one.

I re-checked all my solder points which seem to be fine and I got a new Xecuter 3 CE re-flashed that over network and all seemed to be fine for about ten hours and then the unit had the same faults again.

Any clues on this plz lads would be greatly appreciated as I've been messing about with this for ages.

I know that the motherboard and HDD have to be paired on an original xbox but can you use a different HDD to just Softmod it??

    Thanks in advance

First click my name and go to my links section and download my pack of Ready to burn Bios Cd's
Get the X3 3294 and burn it to CD with Nero Or Alcohol 120%

    Next..
Turn the Flash Bios protection on the chip itself OFF..and on the external switch make sure its off...

Next set the Bios banks to 1.On,2.On,3.Off,4.Off (5 should also be off its the External Flash Bios protection Switch)
and boot the xbox with the power and eject button at the same time...
this will take you to the back-up flash bios

now pop that Bios that you burned in and re-flash the Bios..Use AID 3.0 to install Dashboard's Etc. Dont install anything to the C install everything to the E Drive...and make sure in your X3 Config you tell it to look for the dash in the E Drive...install the MS Dash 5960 onto the C Drive its on the AID 3.0 disc aswell

See there is a thing which is always bugging my mind.

While burning a bios.bin to a CD, do we have to make an xiso of the bios.bin and then burn the image to the disk or just burn the bios.bin file like how normally we do ???
