    Hi,

I joined 2 XViD files (which is a single movie) into single Avi file using Virtualdub 1.3c and following the steps given at this link :-

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/virtualdub_join_avi.cfm

The independent XViD files are of length 1:32:08 and 1:35:21 respectively. Output AVI is 3:07:30

The problem is, in this output avi, till 1:02:40, the audio is proper & with sync with the video.. perfect. But then there is no audio till the end of the file.

Can some one please help me knowing why the audio is not there after a certain length ?

    TIA..

    Indian :)

Maybe the 2 sound stream of the 2 parts of that movie were encoded differently (1 AC3 and 1 MP3, for instance, but by the audio length it seemes there's a corruption point in the first movie) and the program stops during their joining. If you open the AVIs with VirtualDubMod and do Stream___Stream List, which are the characteristics of both?
If you have time, you can try to open any movie with VitualDubMod. You do Stream___Stream List__Save WAV. Check that the WAV is a true WAV, i.e. you can open it with HeadAC3he and Exact Audio Copy (Tools___Process WAV). If not, you're done.
After that, you use HeadAC3he to encode into MP3 CBR (112-128 kbps is enough, click [options>>] to change the MP3 encoding settings, I suggest to choose preset=Alt CBR), any sound stream. Then you open any AVI, you do Stream___Stream List___Disable the old sound stream and do Stream___Stream List__Add the new streams.
    Set Video__Direct Stream Copy and File__Save both Part1__NEW.AVI and Part2__NEW.AVI (F7).
Now you could join well the 2 AVIs.

Now, what I did is, I saved both the files with PCM audio, joined them & got the WAV file saved differently.

After this, I did a lot of effrots through Nandub & VirtualDubMod by giving this WAV file as audio source & giving the proper miliseconds value in the interleaving option to bring the audio & video in sync. But, no luck !!

Now, I have the complete movie in a single file with audio till end but it is about 5 secs ahead of the video during the entire movie..

    Please help !!

I would suggest to make your efforts to have 2 AVIs with the same audio and A/V sync.
In http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/190445 you'll find a procedure to create an AVI with MP3 audio fron any AVI with any sound stream, even AC3 audio or A/V non in sync.
Once you have the 2 halves with A/V perfect sync and audio format = MP3 CBR (e.g. 128 kbps) you can try to join them.
But first, you need to make the 2 halves in the same sound format and, using the 'delay' trick in HeadAC3he, perfectly in A/V sync.
Try to make (1+2).AVI only when you have made the 1.AVI and 2.AVI correctly.
