Hey! Anyone else using Rippack to make Divx's?
I'm 'asking' it to make for example a 1400MB file and it comes out to be something between 700-750MB .. I admit I choose the 'expert' settings, change the output resolution to max, double pass and for sound I choose the setting in between AC3 and MP3, which gives the lowest output size on audio (and thus more for video). What am I doing wrong? Why wont it make it as big as I want it to?
Thanks for the help ! =)

I just tested it out with Neodivx and I get the same problem, it wont take into account the size I was requesting and comes out with a 700MB, when I requested a bigger file size.
In the previous post, ignore the 'expert' settings mention since the things I mentioned you can also do in the simplified settings.
For the audio, the setting I meant was 'DivXAudio (WMA)'.
I know I can use other programs to compress an AVI file, but this is about going the other way, expanding =)
    Thanks for the help :)

try changing the bitrate, that is what will determine the final file size. 900 kps will get you a file around 700mb. Go ahead and increase it to about 1500kps and see what you get.

On some programs when you use the expert settings it will try and get you the best quality and will disregard the file size you requested using it more as a "don't go larger that this size" especially with the 2-pass mode.

well, changing the bit rate in either program's interface didnt have any bearing on the final ripping. so I assumed it had to be a setting on the codec that was over-riding both program's settings, and fair enough, it was 'blocked' at a same bitrate which was the cause for it always coming out the same size, although anything program interface related wasnt being taken into account. So I'm checking it out now and will let you know how it went.
PS: can one access the codec properties in Rippack? I was only able to do it in Neodivx.
    Cheers!

The reason I asked about codec version is because, everything was working fine until recently. I was getting the file size I needed, which I tend to change depending on total length in time, and then I installed the latest divx codec (uptodate to today's date) and thats when things went wrong and the bitrate seemed to be fixed on the codec properties side of things.
So I've uninstalled the latest codec and opted to an older version, at random, and am now checking to see what happens. Too bad these things dont go any faster :p

Yep, its back to normal now, so must have been some codec settings tha were over-riding all others.
