To start this off I'm an absolute newb when it comes to computers. This is the first video card i will be purchasing. Im wondering if ill need any fans to ventilate air better. Its a HP computer p6280t series so i dont have a special case either. I play a lot usually 6 hours a day. I'm not going to be overclocking or crossfire whatever (i only have 1 pci express slot anyhow). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125277 is what im getting due to budget and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008. Ive read somewhere that leaving the side of the case open and having a fan pointed at it helps. Any suggested sites for reading about computer building will be appreciated. (although im lazy and probably wont finish it all if its like 50 pages long)
Taking the side off would be good in you case most likley. That card isnt going to generate that much heat, and the second item is deactivated. I assume it pointed to a Corsair hx520?
oops im not sure how that happened but its the CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS. And thanks for your help. I really appreciate it I cant wait to play elder scrolls oblivion!
I don't think you need a new PSU (unless your current one is burned out). That card does not even have a single 6-pin power input, so it should run fine with your current equipment. That said, it is not a gaming card. It should be better than what HP put in there, but it is still not very impressive...not even as fast as my old 3870...and that thing is almost useless for modern games.
