I have a DVD9 that I'd like to split into DVD5s and then downsample into a separate DVD for either iPod Nafno or Palm. There's the Zire72 with 320x320 TFT screen & 65,000 colors// 2 1/4" W x 2 1/4" H screen. Or the iPod with a 2.5" screen. A choice between the two, which format should I work with?? I don't know if TCPMP can handle the .m4v format of iPod video or not. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm new to video but a regular contributor on the other AD forums. Thanks.
Hello xhardcore, welcome to the iPod forums. There are a few things that confuse me about the question you ask. The iPod mini doesn't support video playback. TCPMP doesn't support Quicktime videos, but it supports .mp4, which is the main format for the iPod [bold]Video[/bold]. Please, a little more info, buddy, and I'll gladly continue to assist.
i think that he meant the vidoe or nano instead of mini, how big is the ipod video screen anyways? i have one, but i never knew
Lethal_B, i don't own the iPod (yet). So I took some "facts" (which were B.S. apparently) from a friend & posted them. The zire72 & TungE are mine, i have tons of DVDs....just wanting to learn best way to rip. I have some software to do it, have the tutorials, but what is the recommended size to rip? Some kind of tutorial for someone who wants to rip to iPod & still make compatible with Palm. Since TCPMP handles .mp4 files, i'll rip em that way. Just need a bit of advice on my first try.
Ok, I think I gather what you are saying now. You have two seperate devices, one with a 320x320 screen, and one (the iPod) with a 320x240 screen -- and you want your converted videos to satisfy both. I cannot say at which resolution you should convert your videos at, because I don't know which one you will use primarily as a video player -- your pda or your iPod. Please enlighten me & i'll give my best suggestions
What i want to do is put it in a format [bold]so it can be viewed on Palm or iPod[/bold]. All my videos are already in Palm format. But I want to convert to better format; upload certain files to friends who have iPod. Point me to a Tutorial & i'll try it!
Buddy, have a look at the top of this forum, there are two guides -- one by myself, and one by dkmopq. You are best off using Videora, as it is a free, and very reliable app.
