My dad bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder awhile ago to put family videos on DVD from 8mm tapes. This works great. My trouble has come from illegally copying DVD's. I hooked my Playstation 2 into the DVD Recorder as IN1. Using the PS2 as an external device, I copied a few copyrighted DVD's and thought this was a perfect technique. But now, every time I try to copy a DVD like this, I get a message that says "copying of materials not allowed. Dubbing has been canceled". This is frustrating because it tells me this when I tried to copy a DVD that I already copied in the same fashion. HELP
I have a Panasonic and it states plainly that copyrighted materials can't be copied.I noticed this when I tried to copy some VHS tapes that had Macrovision protection.I got around it by running the video through an old Radio Shack 'Video Stabilizer' (made by Optex).I assume that DVD's with Macrovision protection would also cause problems for the recorder (perhaps the DVD's you copied did not have Macrovision, but this recorder seems to put protection of some kind on the recorded disk).
