New to this whole stuff, but I am being frustrated by my system thinking it is a CD drive when I put in a DVD-R blank disk. Message also comes back asking for a blank disk and all programs cease to copy to it. If I put in a DVD-RW, the whole world is happy. I can burn to the disk. If I place a DVD-RAM in the drive, I can burn data files to it but no movie files. Help is greatly appreciated.

When I look at "My Computer" screen, it shows it as a CD Drive when I place a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW.If I place a DVD-RAM it shows itself as a DVD-RAM drive.
I have used Alcohol 120% - no success
DVD-Decrypter, says it needs a disk in the drive, already there.
Windows Media program says the same thing, no disk in drive.
