Hello, my laptop broke and i am wondering as to whether i can get all the data off of it by using a hdd enclosure. What i would like to ask, because im clueless, is whether all laptop harddrives are 2.5". And also what the differenc between PATA and SATA is, does it make a difference when buying a enclosure, Thanks. Danny
You would need to remove your old hdd from your laptop to see which it is. this can bormally be done by removing a small cover from the bottom of your laptop. IDE drives have 2 rows of pins on one end whereas sata has no pins.
what is the make & model# of the laptop to see what you have? most laptops use 2.5" drives & older ones use ide drives.
going by the specs tho it doesn't say what type of interface it is, my guess is a sata drive & it is a 2.5" drive. look at the bottom of the laptop as there is a bay for the hard drive, look at the link as it will tell you were it is. http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...7013&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire 7730&OS=V10&LC=en&SC=PA_6
