    Hi.

I am trying to put my VHS home movies onto DVDs using my computer. I am using the composite input on my Hauppauge 150 PVR MCE card. I also have analog cable hooked up to my computer. I can play and capture analog cable fine, and I can play and capture Commercial Video VHS tapes with my composite input fine also. When I try to capture home movies with composite video I get disturbances in the video that appear to be analog in nature. However, when I play the same videos on a VCR hooked up to a television, they play fine. I have hooked up 2 different VCRs to my computer, but have gotten the same results. Does anyone have any ideas as to why I am getting these results.

    Thanks.

I have also tried hooking up a DVD player to the Composite connection and it plays fine. Could the problem be electromagnetic interference from the computer? I am not sure what else to check.

Actually I am using Mythtv for Linux. I don't believe that it is a software problem however. I have about 40 tapes and I have gotten some of the tapes to record fine, but there are a few tapes that aren't recording well. The ones that aren't recording well, however, usually play better (sometimes flawlessly) on a television set than they do when connected to my computer. I think the ones that have problems with them have these disturbances enhanced when they are played while hooked up to my computer. There is one tape in particular that I am having the most trouble with. It is a tape of my parents wedding, which was originally recorded on an 8mm reel in 1979. Later it was converted to VHS. It looks pretty bad when played on my computer (it looks like all of the colors have been inverted or something, if that makes any sense) but it looks OK when played on a televison set. So I know that the problems are limited to a few tapes, but I think that somehow being hooked up to my computer magnifies these problems.

yes i have ran into that with a few tapes myself.
for some reason it is no clear at all. i was thinking it was the tapes just not being clear as a result it was amplified my the pc.
i have not fix it yet.
