    Hi,

Recently upgraded my PC and everything has been going fine until now.

    specs:

    Proc: AMD 3000+ (socket 939)
    MB: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 (PCI-E)
    RAM: 2x 512MB DDR 400 (Dual Channel)
    Graphics: 256mb Radeon X600 (PCI-E)
    HDD1: 160gb SATA
    HDD2: 100gb IDE
OS: Windows xp pro/Windows xp pro 64 bit

I have been playing games with no problem until about a week ago but now at random intervals PC will go blank and will not respond. I mainly play Unreal 2k4 but it seems to happen in all games.

I have both XP pro and XP pro 64 bit on this PC and I thought it may have been because I installed the omega drivers but it happens on both setups of windows (omega and official ATI).

Any ideas? As far as I know I am spyware and virus free. I can't think of anything else I have changed and certainly not in both OS's.

    Cheers for any help.

    Lou

I can only think of a couple of things, you might be running Hot, so you might want to check your tempatures, and your windows might be unstable,

So to check your tempature there are a number of programs that will do it automatically , just google it..

And windows being unstable. Might want to reinstall windows, iwould reinstall windows as a last resort.

Thats all i could think of, sorry.

    Prime95, Memtest86, OCCT, 3Dmark01, 03, 05

Does it happen only when running games/3dmark? Or does it also happen running prime, memtest and occt

But yeah seems to be GFX card heat related, if it passes prime, memtest, and occt but fails during 3dmark then you will know

    Have fun

Could it be your PSU? Can you try another?

I would imagine it must be hardware related. I basically only have unreal 2k4 installed on XP 64 bit so I can't see how it would have become unstable. As far as I can remember it has never fallen over when not playing games.

I will try the tests you suggested and see I I can get a new PSU as I only hav a stock one anyway. What should I look for in a PSU?

    Thanks for the replies.
