I'm having an issue where my system will freeze up, and require me to hold the power button to reset the PC. It's been happening mostly when I've been playing COD4, but has happened while simply on the internet. When this happens, the current image remains on the screen and the sound coming from the speakers sound like a CD skipping. I'm running XP 32 bit and Vista Home Premium 64 bit on separate hard drives, and have had this issue on both drives. All the drivers are up to date, and I've tried to run my system as bare bones as I can; unplugging one hard drive, removing sound card and taking the side panel off the case to allow more cooling. None of these ideas have worked. Here are the system components:
    MB - MSI P45 Platinum
    HD(XP) - Seagate ST31000340NS 1TB
    HD(Vista) - Western Digital WD1001FALS-001K1B0 1TB
    CPU - Q9550
    GPU - HIS 4870
    RAM - 4GB Corsair Dominator PC8500 DDR2 1066MHz
    PSU - Corsair TX750W

The times that the system will freeze up appear to be random. It could happen as the game is booting up, or an hour or so into the game. If you need info from BIOS, please be specific as I don't mess around with it, thus nothing is OC'd. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try downloading the free everest trial from here and choosing computer>sensor then check your temps and voltages if your not sure what's right/wrong post the results here. Taking the side off isn't the best way of checking if its a temp problem....
