Hi hope this is the correct forum....the new pc games which come on dvd are causing me problems....Sims 2 and Neverwinter nights 2 original discs...

I install games fine and online updates etc.but when i try to play them i get "please put game disc in drive" however it is !!!!

the problem i am thinking is i do not have a dvd rom but a pioneer 108 (firmware updated) dvd writer and maybe the fact its a writer is stopping the game launching..

I remember the older days wereby to hide your cd-writer you had to use clone cd to hide cdr media.....is this similar and what do i have to use to play the games...

my get round has so far been imaging the disc and using daemon tools ,but this isnt exactly great as i bought the original game!!!

is there a program i can use to mask the fact its a writer.any help appreciated

If daemon tools was installed on your system before you installed these games, then that is likely the culprit. Most new games which require the use of the original disc to play the game also have protection against cd emulation. Uninstall daemon tools and any other emulation software you have installed on your system such as nero image drive or virtual clone drive (installs with clonecd) and try again.
