    Hi
    :)
    ;)
I've tried to set my pc to a static ip
    to connect with my xbox

    when in settings/controlpanel/network
    (Win98SE)
    I see like 4 TCP/IP
I change'em all to my xbox ip,submask net and default gateway

and the pc askme for a restart to make the changes

    ok now
    when restarting
    it says
systems is having problems with ip:192.168.0.1(my xbox ip) when hardware is addressed to :xx.xxx.xx.xxx (cant remember the numbers)
new ip will be dissabled or something

My question if somebody wanna help me :)
    is:
how do I set my pc to static ip? on Win98SE

    thank you
the tutorials I've seen are different than what I have
mostly all are for WindowsXP or WinME

    thanx in advance

You shouldn't have 4 TCP/IP connections in your PC settings. Try to figure out which ones you don't need and delete them. Sounds like your causing a conflict on your PC by setting them all to the same IP address.

I did delete to all but 1
and tried to connect with my xbox with no result
then change the TCP/IP properties to get back my dsl settings
    and restarting aol

there was a message aol needed those tcp/ip I just deleted
    and it installed them again

so mm I dont know which ones I dont need
    to do this networking thing

is a crossover better than a hub?

also if my xbox is 192.168.0.1
what should I put on my NIC settings?
    192.168.0.2 ? with same submask?

    thanx in advance bro

How did you mess up your NIC?
    Can you just re-install it?
Does it still show up in your System Hardware?

should I put my pc on the link port?
    or the xbox?
    or none of them?
    cause nothing works
at this time I can get the FTP to work

    :(

There should be one port to either connect to another Hub or Highspeed Modem. Then the rest of the ports are where you plug your XBox and PC into.

    A question

should'nt be the xbox default gateway
    my pc's ip?

    like lets say
    pc's ip

    192.168.0.2
    255.255.255.0
    default gateway: 0.0.0.0 ?

    xbox ip
    192.168.0.1
    255.255.255.0
    default gateway: 192.168.0.2 ?
