Hi I switced on my monitor and it works but when I swtich on my tower, I don't get a response from it. It's like it is dead. I have even changed the fuse in the plug but to no avail. Does anybody know what I should do. Thanks
if once you've pressed the power switch no fans start spinning then it'll be your power supply, providing you have checked the fuse in the plug like you say. you can find a power supply for about £35 make sure you get a good wattage one. 600+ as for fitting it yourself. it's well easy. there's 4 screws on the back of the case that hold the current power supply in (PSU) disconnect all cables from DVD drives HDD drives etc and 2 plugs from the motherboard. Then re-connect the new one and bob's your uncle
I seem to have taken three of the four screws out, the last screw is just going round in circles. What should I do? Thanks
I have a white coloured PC. The PSU is in a black colour, does this make a difference. I have put the following link from where I will buy the PSU from. Thanks http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SILENT-75...44949QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
Not a wise choice. Try and draw more than about 100W from that unit and it will go pop, taking the rest of your system with it. It doesn't matter what colour the PSU is, just that it's from a reputable brand. The unit you have there is identical to ALL other value units like that, including 300W ones, so none of them could possibly offer any more than 300W. This is the power supply I recommend people now, as it can be trusted not to destroy the rest of your system. 400 genuine watts are ample, trust me. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150985
agreed with Sam. don't be fooled into buying cheapo PSU's!! it's not good! spend a bit of money on it. i gave my prediction at £35 only because i buy at trade through the business. anymore then £50 i think is OTT
I took the old PSU out. I took it to a computer shop and the guy there showed me one the exact size but the fan was much bigger and on the top. He said to me that it will be fine but I was thinking that it wouldn't cos the top part of the tower will block the fan. The fan on my PSU was smaller and it could be seen from the back and therefore the air would come out. Did I make the right choice? Or should I buy it. Thanks
My previous PSU was 300w. Is it best to stick with the same wattage or could I go for a higher - is there any danger if I have a higher wattage or not. Thanks
