I am looking for software which will allow me to output a DVD playback or DVD file from my hard drive to my ILO DVD Recorder. The recorder has a firewire input port and has the capability to use VCR type controls to control a Video Camcorder.

Essentially, I need software which makes the PC look like a camera so I can send Digital files out the PC Firewire port to the Recorder. I am using Win2000 op system on a AMD 2000MHZ PC. I hope someone has some ideas out there.

Well I know that Editing Programs Like Adobe premier have the Capibility to Output whatever is on the Timeline out to a Camcorder or maybe even Possibly out through the S-Video out on your Video Card which is another Option you might consider instead of useing the Firewire output because outputting Video out through your TV-Out Port is probably easier than trying to find some Program that reads your DVD Recorder as a DV Camcorder.....

    good luck

    Thanks Minion:
I could use an SVideo or Composite output port to feed a Video file out to my ILO DVD Recorder. Unfortunately, that requires a digital to analog conversion at the PC, and another Analog to Digital conversion in the Recorder. These are un-necessary conversions and cause some loss of Video Quality.

If I can make the PC send a ripped DVD file group out the Firewire port via the IEEE 1394 cable to The ILO recorder Camera port, I can keep the Video in Digital format and retain maximum quality. Thats the plan here if I can find affordable software to do the job.

King, have you found any solutions to get PowerPoint to DVD in digital format so it can play on any DVD player? I am searching long and far myself....everyone says there must be a way to do it through Firewire with some software, but I can not find anything.....let me know if you have had any success. I agree that dropping it down to analog is a hige degredation in videao and audio quality...

So far I have not found software that would allow me to send an MPEG2(DVD file group) to a DVD Recorder using my PC's Firewire port. Magix Movies on CD & DVD will allow me to capture Video from a CamCorder and edit it. Then I can send it back to the Camera but of course that will in a format the camera can understand. It may be possible to send the same edited Camera file to the DVD Recorder and have the recorder use it to make a DVD but the recorder wants to control the PC like it was a CamCorder. (IE pause, play, stop, etc.)
I haven't tried anything like that yet but I hope to in another month. I am still looking for a software program which will make the PC look like a CamCorder and send a specified movie to the DVD Recorder via the IEEE 1394 bus and have it processed by the DVD Recorder as if it was a CamCorder Input. I am still looking.

I am told from several sources that the IEEE1394 method will not work as it is typically intended to import data into the port on the PC, not export.

    I am using this product,

    http://www.geovid.com/presentation_to_video_converter/?prv=4.0&pnm=PVC&ptd=3&pte=21&prh=2027739808

which does a very good job to convert a full animated self-running PPT to a video including full control quality over the video and sound bitrates. The output is almost perfect as the source, at times, a little choppy, but overall quite impressive considering the others I have seen. The clarity is much better than the S-Video and analog RCA audio outputs I tried from the video and sound card.

The last thing I am waiting to hear from them, is how do I convert and burn the .vob or .mpg file to a DVD?...it also allows converting to a Windows Media Player file. I do not know how to get this onto a DVD (not in a PC file format) that any DVD player can read? I am just about there once I get this last piece....any ideas?
