Hello my pc will not get passed the intiial start up screen.It jumps to a black screen with the words on it ' disk read error press control and delete to re boot' It wont start in safe mode either,i have also tried re booting with the start up disc but nothing. Thanks
Check to make sure the connections from your motherboard and PSU to your hard drive a pressed in firmly. Is this an old drive?
hi, its a brand new pc,comet want to send it away for upto 6 weeks to look at it.But need it before that.Using laptop at present ,all my work is stuck on my home pc.Thanks for ther reply
Did you get a Windows disc or a recovery disc with the computer? I'd try booting from the dvd and see if there's any recovery options you can run before sending it off.
If you have had any abnormal shutdowns, you might have corrupted the system boot files. This will render the hard drive "raw" unallocated. You best bet is to do a chkdsk c: /f this will fix your problem 90 percent of the time. Everytime I have encountered this problem you describe a chkdsk has fixed it and made my computer bootable again.
