pentium d, core 2 duo, core 2 extreme

    hey all,
    i have this mobo
    and i have a pentium d 2.80 ghz 2048kb cache size
    what is the best processor i should get that would actually make my pc faster? or should i stay with this one? i dont wanna get a diff mobo, and i already have my graphics(512mb agp) and hdd 500(gb) and ram (2gb) thanks

    i suggest a Core 2 Duo E8400, it sells for $170 at Newegg.com it is overclockable and can get up to a very fast speed, its worth an investment.

    does it work with my mobo? can you check? i dont want to buy it then have it not work

    No it is not supported. Your board only supports older Core 2 Duos, and even then, it only does if it is revision 2 - this will be printed on the board itself - could be 'REVISION 2.0' or 'v2.0' - if it's a one point something, it's no good, you may as well keep the same processor.
    Realistically though, AGP is ancient, so you should consider upgrading the board in the near future.
