I have a philips dvp5140 that claims to play DVD+RW but it shows 'No Disc' when I put one in. The discs are TDK+RW 4.7GB and I am burning .avi files on them using Nero 9. I am finalizing the discs also. What could be wrong? Thx.

Are you sure your player can play .avi format? “No Disc” may mean “No recognizable file on your disc.”)
Can you burn DVD_VIDEO (.vob, .ifo in VIDEO_TS folder) on DVD+RW to test?

RW disc is finalized (closed) right? (Are there any chance that you enabled multi-session enabled and did not closed?)

If so, it’s must be a issue of burning quality. Can you provide more information how you burn the disc? (Most of burning programs save log file. Can you post it here?

I have a 5982. I've used +RW Ricoh discs with multi-session. They work fine. I can keep adding more files and they all show up/work.
