My DVDr drive stopped working about 4 weeks ago and I've been laying it off til now, because I need to free space. One day it suddenly didn't work. That's it. I remember putting in a DVD with data on it so I could read it, but it didn't recognise it and it stopped working. Now all it does is flash the little green power light at startup then it goes dead. I can press the butto, but nothing happens. The drive doesn't come out. Help...?
any exclamation marks in device manager or an error message?. does the motherboard see the drive at all? does the drive shows up in windows at all?
Nope, it's all nice at the device manager. It's detecting it and everything. Nothing wrong, no exclamation marks or anything.
uninstall the drive from device manager & restart windows to find & load it's driver. if drive still not read disks than return it for replacement.
Try shutting down the pc,then when you turn it back on-hit the eject button. I've got a benq 1620 that does that with memorex discs. It won't let me eject them until I shut down, and start back up while I hit the eject buttom during the bios screen. Crappy quality media can do many things to us. Your drive should be a re-badged benq 1640, a very nice burner. Just something to try. Good Luck!
