I've read many threads with dislike of this burner. However, I have had no major issues with it and have just choose to upgrade the firmware. When I try to upgrade to GD30 the error message (below) indicates the model is not supported. Does anyone have some help or suggestions? PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631 Current firmware : 9D03 ==> New firmware Version : GD30 Linear CheckSum : 15A1 Rotated CheckSum : BF05 Check Sum match !! This Model is not support. On Command Fail !!
Hi ;-) Your model is what's known as oem. The f/w is known as retail. In order for this to work, you have to 'technically' crossflash using Quikee's BQFlasher. See: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=149980
Thanks's zebadee! The link to download & instructions worked perfectly. Now upgraded to GD30. Hope burner continues to work fine. Otherwise, will upgrade to LiteOn. Thanks again.
