What firmware do you have installed, and is it a clone or genuine?
Go to the dooby2oon link at the end of my post, and click on the clone link to help you determine if it's a clone / genuine.
If it's a genuine, upgrade the firmware to 4.00

    Cheers for the info scouser.

Clone has 18 vents on top.
Thats right, 2.57 is the firmware version The latest version for genuine starview is 4.00.
You can download it from the eko link at the end of my post. It is in the Starview -> Firmware directory. You will also need
the gtrom loader, which is in the Starview -> Software directory. On top of this, you will need a null modem cable which should have come in the box.
Please be 100% certain that you have a genuine one, as version 4.00 will kill a clone very quickly, and then you
will have to get it jtagged.

Head on over to eko site again. In the Starview -> Documentation directory, get the SV Update Guide.doc.

Or, the short version. Connect the starview to your pc using the null modem cable. Put the starview into standby. Start gtrom program, make sure App File Only radio button is selected. Click on BIN file button, browse to where you downloaded the firmware file, and select it. Click download button, sit back and wait. When it gets to 100%, you will see the Download Complete message, wait a little while longer, just be sure.
Disconnect the starview, and all should be OK.
