Hi, I have used studio 9 to create a home movie but when coming to actually "creating the movie" in mpeg 2 dvd format i have an estimated file size of 8GB! The actual movie lasts about 1hr 45mins, is this file size normal and fit on a standard DVD disk or am i doing something wrong?
I've not used Pinnacle9 , but when encoding there's probably an option at the start of settings for whatever project. If & when I change bitrate (which is usually at default of 6,000) down to say 5,000 ... then its usually around the 4450mb mark. I use MainConcept MPEG Encoder a lot of the time , just for speed of encoding ... but it shows a projected output filesize before starting so changing the bitrate to suit is not a problem in that proggie that I use.
Thanks. I have now lowered the bitrate to 5000 and get a predicted file size of 3703mb, will this be okay quality and size wise for a dvdr?
keep raising bitrate gradually until you have almost 4450mb , and burn to a DVD-RW [if you have one , then you can test on TV screen] ... is what Id suggest
