I did a search but couldn't find an answer, so here is my question-

I have a Pioneer HTD8 DVD Player and a Pioneer DVR 630H DVD Player/Recorder. Both the Owners Manuals for these machines state that DVD+R is not supported, and yet my DVD+R discs appear to work just fine in both machines.
Am I damaging the Lasers or some other part of the DVD Players by using an unsupported Format? Why do Pioneer state that something will not work in their Players when it does?

Thank you in advance for any information on this subject.

As far as I know, DVD+R will play in almost everything (Pioneer included)... However, I believe that your Pioneer will not record to a +R disc

Now the laser ... It will not hurt your laser to read +R discs with it ... I've had my granddaughters put literally dozens of 'silver top' Yudens in their player, upside down ... they've stuffed all kinds of crap in the thing and it just keeps on working ...
