I have some problems runing the Pioneer DVR-106D. 1st problem: The window media player will not play the DVD. Error message: You need a updated dvd decoder for this drive. I guess that's a easy one to fix, just download a dvd decoder and problem fix, right? 2nd problem: Try burning a backup copy of a dvd I purchase with Clonedvd and Anydvd. Everything burn perfect however the finishing result are disappointing. The burn dvd can not playback on any dvd player or the Pioneer drive. I try to open the file by clicking on the Pioneer drive in the my document and nothing is there. Has anyone experience this before and can somone please provide detail instructions. Thanks!!
1). You need someting like [bold]PowerDVD XP[/bold] or [bold]WinDVD [/bold] to play VOB files with. 2). You need to burn VOB (BUP & IFO too) in a VIDEO_TS folder. The software you've mentioned that you use , I am not that familiar with because I use DVD Decrypter to rip/unencrypt DVD with then DVD2One or DVD Shrink to compress files to fit on one DVD-R (4.36Gb)...after which I use either RecordNow DX or Nero to burn with.
Thanks for your post. By the way can someone point me to where I can download the driver for Pioneer DVR-106D. If you have a link or website please post it up. Thanks!!
I wouldnt tend to get that firmware upgrade. Wait for the RPC 1 to be released. People have had problems with the 1.6
Yeah. But anyways I'm gonna return the pioneer drive. It give me so much problem. Try burning with two different dvd+r, Fuji and Vabatim and the ending result was disappointing. I can't view the burn copy with any players or the pioneer DVR-106D itself. Open the Pioneer Drive in My document and the disc capacity show 0. Anyways it's a pain in the ass, I think I'm gonna try NEC DVD Recorder the 1300A model. Has anyone heard any bad news with the NEC 1300 model??
There is a thread about the 1300 somewhere n afterdawn. Why do you wish to ahve both formats. I would get a Pioneer DVR105 if i was you. Its only £100 and is great with the RPC 1 1.33 Firmware upgrade.
No. I haven't. I only purchase the DVD+R media and I don't want those media to go to waste by trying something else. Beside if the Pioneer drive is not compatible with the DVD+R media or anything else then what's the point of keeping this drive, right? Anyways thanks for your help.
well thanks for your info. I think I'll return the pioneer drive and get a nec 1100a, it's alot cheaper. By the way don't order from Livewarehouse.com, it's a pain to get your product return. They only respond by e-mail, they do not have a customer service contact number.
1). Oriphus & I both live in the UK & would never order from USA (at least I wouldn't) 2). That site isn't even cheap man , so what made you buy from them in the first place ? hope you find your Nirvana
I agree with SCL677 i have the same drive bought in the uk but im having terrible play back problems. Can get to work with power dvd and in ternal drive but have got a split picture on every standalone ive tried. Using ritek silverx4 -R disks at the moment, im going to try another kind and if that doesnt solve it they can have this drive back as well !!! I think i will try the sony DW-U12A if you have any opions?
Sony stand alone DVD players yes. Sony burner ?? I would never , ever even consider it !! Trawl thru the forums looking for Sony burner problems...
i have the pioneer 106d and its ok except it wont play the backups that ive copied but they all work on other writers and dvd players. why is this?
